Once in royal David's city

Once in royal David's city
Stood a lowly cattle shed,
Where a mother laid her Baby,
In a manger for His bed.
Mary was that mother mild,
Jesus Christ her little Child.

2
He came down to earth from heaven,
Who is God and Lord of all,
And His shelter was a stable,
And His cradle was stall.
With the poor, and mean, and lowly'
Lived on earth our Saviour holy.

3
And through all His wondrous child-
hood
He would honour and obey,
Love and watch the lowly mother
In whose gentle arms He lay.
Christian children all must be
Mild, obedient, good as He.

4
For He is our childhood's pattern,
Day by day like us He grew;
He was little, weak, and helpless'
Tears and smiles like us He knew;
And He feeleth for our sadness,
And He shareth in our gladness.

5
And our eyes at last shall see Him
Through His own redeeming love,
For that Child so dear and gentle
Is our Lord in heaven above;
And He leads His children on
To the place where He is gone.

6
Not in that poor lowly stable,
With the oxen standing by,
We shall see Him-but in heaven,
Set at God's right hand on high;
When like stars His children crowned,
All in white shall wait around.

Thou didst leave Thy throne and

Thou didst leave Thy throne and
Thy kingly crown,
When in Bethlehem's home was there
found no room
For Thy holy nativity:

Oh, come to my heart, Lord Jesus!
There is room in my heart for Thee;
Oh, come to my heart, Lord Jesus, come!
There is room in my heart for Thee.

2
Heaven's arches rang when the angels
sang,
Proclaiming Thy royal degree;
But of lowly birth cam'st Thou, Lord,
on earth,
And in great humility:

3
The foxes found rest, and the birds
had their nest
In the shade of the forest tree;
But Thy couch was the sod, O Thou
Son of God,
In the deserts of Galilee:

4
Thou camest, O Lord, with the living
Word
That should set Thy people free;
But with mocking scorn, and with
crown of thorn,
They bore Thee to Calvary:

Oh, come to my heart, Lord Jesus!
Thy cross is my only plea;
Oh, come to my heart, Lord Jesus, come!
Thy cross is my only plea.

5
When heaven's arches shall ring, and
her choirs shall sing
At Thy coming to victory;
Let Thy voice call me home, saying,
"Yet there is room,
There is room at My side for thee!"

And my heart shall rejoice, Lord Jesus!
When Thou comest and callest for me.

To us a child of hope is born

To us a Child of hope is born,
To us a Son is given;
Him shall the tribes of earth obey,
Him all the hosts of heaven.

2
His name shall be the Prince of Peace,
For evermore adored,
The Wonderful, the Councellor,
The great and mighty Lord!

3
His power, increasing, still shall
spread;
His reign no end shall know:
Justice shall guard His throne above,
And peace abound below.

Angels from the realms of glory

Angels from the realms of glory,
Wing your flight o'er all the earth;
Ye who sang creation's story,
Now proclaim Messiah's birth;

Come and worship!
Worship Christ, the new-born King!

2
Shepherds in the field abiding,
Watching o'er their flocks by night;
God with man is now residing;
Yonder shines the Infant-light:

3
Sages, leave your contemplations;
Brighter visions beam afar!
Seek the greak Desire of nations,
Ye have seen His natal star:

4
Saints before the altar bending,
Watching long in hope and fear,
Suddenly the Lord, descending,
In His temple shall appear:

Hark the herald angel sing

1
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new born King,
Peace on earth and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!"
Joyful all ye nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With th' angelic host proclaim,
"Christ is born in Bethlehem."

Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new-born King."

2
Christ, by highest heaven adored'
Christ, the everlasting Lord'
Late in time behold Him come,
Offspring of a virgin's womb;
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;
Hail th' Incarnate Deity,
Pleased as Man with men to dwell,
Jesus our Immanuel!

3
Hail, the heavenly Prince of Peace!
Hail, the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Risen with healing in His wings;
Mild, He lays His glory by,
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth.

O come all ye faithful

1
Oh come, all ye faithful,
Joyfully triumphant,
To Bethlehem hasten now with glad
accord;
Lo! in a manger
Lies the King of Angels;

Oh come, let us adore Him,
Oh come, let us adore Him,
Oh come, let us adore Him, Christ
the Lord!

2
Raise, raise, choirs of angels,
Songs of loudest triumph:
Through heaven's high arches be your
praises poured:
Now to our God be
Glory in the highest;

3
Amen, Lord, we bless Thee,
Born for our salvation;
O Jesus! for ever be Thy name adored;
Word of the Father,
Late in flesh appearing;

Never shone a light so fair

        1
Never shone a light so fair,
Never fell so sweet a song,
As the chorous in the air
Chanted by the angel throng;
Every star took up the story:

"Christ has come, the Prince of glory,
Come in humble hearts to dwell;
God with us,God with us,
God with us, Immanuel!"

2
Still the Jubilee of song
Breaks upon the rising morn;
While the anthem rolls along,
Floods of light the earth adorn
Old and young take up the story:

3
Welcome now the blessed day,
When we praise the Lord our King;
When we meet to praise and pray,
And His love with gladness sing:
Let the world take up the story:

O little town of Bethlehem

1
O little town of Bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by;
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight!

2
For Christ is born of Mary;
And gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love.
O morning stars, together
Proclaim the holy birth,
And praised sing to God the King
And peace to men on earth!

3
How silently, how silently,
The wondrous gift is given!
so God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of His heaven.
No ear may hear His coming;
But in this world of sin.
Where meek souls will receive Him, still
The dear Christ enters in.

4
O holy Child of Bethlehem,
Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin and enter in-
Be born in us today!
We hear the holy angels
The great glad tidings tell,-
Oh,  come to us, abide with us,
Our Lord Emmanuel!

Hark the glad sound

           1
Hark, the glad sound-the Saviour
comes!
The Saviour promised long;
Let every heart exult with joy,
And every voice be song!

         2
He comes!the prisoners to release,
In Satan's bondage held;
The gates of brass before Him burst,
The iron fetters yield.

         3
He comes! the broken hearts to bind'
The bleeding souls to cure;
And with the treasures of His grace
To enrich the humble poor.

         4
Our glad hosannas, Prince of Peace!
Thy welcome shall proclaim;
And heaven's exalted arches ring
With Thy most honoured name.

While Shepherds watched

                  1
While shepherds watched their
flocks by night,
All seated on the ground;
The angel of the Lord came down,
And glory shone around.

                2

"Fear not!" said he-for mighty
dread
Had seized their troubled mind
"Glad tidings of great joy I bring
To you and all mankind.

       3
"To you in David's town,this day,
Is born of David's line
The Saviour, who is Christ the Lord;
And this shall be the sign.

       4
"The heavenly Babe you there shall
find
To human view displayed,
All meanly wrapped in swathing bands,
And in a manger laid."

         5
Thus spake the seraph- and forth
with
Appeared a shining throng
Of angels, praising God, who thus
Addressed the joyful song.

         6
"All glory be to God on high!
And to the earth be peace!
Goodwill henceforth from heaven to
men
Begin and never cease!"
"my soul doth magnify the Lord and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour"

What a wonderful words from our mother Mary !
she praises God with this beautiful song.
SWEET CHIMING BELLS
